Biography
J-Novel Club is an American publisher of Japanese light novels and manga translated into English, German, and French. JNC is a digital-first publisher meaning all its titles are released as e-books first before selecting titles with the highest digital sales to print physical copies. It streams its products in weekly installments (called prepubs) before publishing the finalized e-books.
J-Novel Club was founded in 2016 by Sam Pinansky.
In 2017, J-Novel Club collaborated with [Seven Seas Entertainment](https://ranobedb.org/publisher/12) to publish print editions of some of JNC's light novels.
In 2018, J-Novel Club announced it would start publishing print editions of some of its light novels. In the same year, it also started publishing manga.
On April 28, 2021 J-Novel Club was purchased by [Kadokawa Corporation](https://ranobedb.org/publisher/9).
At Anime NYC 2022, J-Novel Club announced it was entering into a new collaboration with [Yen Press](https://ranobedb.org/publisher/41) to publish print editions of their titles.
On March 6, 2024, J-Novel Club reached a print distribution agreement with Hachette Book Group via [Yen Press](https://ranobedb.org/publisher/41) and Diamond Book Distributors. Hachette will distribute all of J-Novel Club's titles in North America while Diamond Book will handle international sales.
In addition to Japanese titles, J-Novel Club has also translated German-language pulp fiction into English through its imprint, J-Novel Pulp, which debuted in 2021.
